The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) said the anti-corruption protests dubbed the “Trillion Peso March” on Sunday, Nov. 30, concluded peacefully and without any untoward incidents across NIR.

A total of 869 personnel from the Philippine National Police were deployed to ensure the safety and security of rally participants and the general public, a press release from the PRO-NIR said.

The PRO-NIR said it worked in full coordination with partner agencies, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and various force multipliers.

The inter-agency effort ensured the smooth and secure conduct of activities in all monitored areas, the press release said.

Rallies were held in Bacolod City and Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental, and Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.

Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Ibay commended the PNP personnel for their professionalism and diligence in managing the security operations, and extended his appreciation to the rally organizers, participants, and the entire community for responsibly observing the safety and security protocols put in place.

He emphasized that the peaceful outcome of the day’s activities demonstrates the shared commitment of both law enforcement and the public to ensuring orderly civic engagement.

The PRO NIR reaffirms its commitment to protecting the people’s constitutional right to peaceful assembly while maintaining public order and safety across the region, he said.*
