
The alleged rebel who died in an encounter between members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the 15th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army in Sitio Camboguiot, Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, has been identified.
The casualty was Rodine Lumanog, 54, a squad member of the dismantled NPA South West Front and a resident of Sitio Umas in Camindangan, the Army said on Sunday, Jan. 12.
Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas, 302nd Infantry Brigade commander, said that the victim was identified by his relatives who confirmed that he had been part of the rebel group.
A high powered firearm was also seized following the encounter on Friday, the Army reported.
Escanillas said that the Army is continuing its pursuit operation against the remaining rebels who fled after the encounter.*
