An alleged finance officer of the dismantled New People’s Army Northern Negros Front was injured in an encounter between the rebels and 79th Infantry Battalion soldiers in Barangay Caduhaan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, Thursday morning, Feb. 13.
The encounter with three rebels, which lasted for about four minutes, occurred during the Army’s focused military operations, the 79th IB reported.
The Army recovered important documents with high intelligence value from the scene of the encounter, it added.
The recovered documents showed that the rebels planned to conduct extortion activities during the elections, the 79th IB reported.
Lt. Dan Carlo Samoza, 79IB spokesperson, said that they are conducting pursuit operations against the rebels.
Personal belongings and blood stains were found at the scene the encounter indicating that one of the rebels was injured, he said.*
