Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said he has issued an executive order directing the City Planning and Development Office to oppose all applications for foreshore lease, and all other tenurial applications effective immediately.
Benitez, at a press conference Monday, February 5, said he ordered the moratorium “because we would like to ensure that the master plan of the city is first established before any activity is undertaken in our shorelines”.
The city will have a master plan in three or four months, he said.
Benitez said there will be no exemptions to the moratorium, even if a public official is involved.*
