Bacolod mayoral candidate Albee Benitez spearheaded a blood donation drive on Sunday, January 16, in line with his advocacy to enhance access of Bacolodnons to adequate healthcare.
A total of 43 volunteers donated blood during the activity co-organized by the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, Nikki Cares Foundation and Abang Lingkod Paty-list.
Called ”Sulong ABByan, Sugpon Kabuhi”, the blood collected will be reserved for patients needing blood transfusion in the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
“We thank our donors and volunteers for responding to our call for blood donations to save lives. Padayon kita mag-updanay para sa kaayong lawas,” Benitez said in a statement.
To ensure the safety of the blood collection procedure, the activity observed physical distancing and other health precautions in compliance with the guidelines set by government authorities to prevent spread of COVID-19, the statement said.*
