Actions taken vs.12 city employees nothing personal, Gasataya says

Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said the administrative actions taken against 12 city employees were based solely on verified complaints and allegations, stressing that the move was not driven by personal motives.

“This is nothing personal but just part of our job. I don’t run after or hold grudges against anybody. In fact, I don’t even know some of them personally,” Gasataya said during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center on Monday, April 6.

Among those involved are two female medical officers from the City Health Office who were issued separate show cause orders for alleged conduct unbecoming of public servants, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Officed (BCCO) said.

The three employees from the General Services Office were dismissed after being declared absent without official leave, the BCCO added.

“Always bear in mind that when I do things, I don’t do it personally. There are complaints and allegations, but we ensure that due process is observed,” the mayor said, emphasizing the importance of improving public service delivery for Bacolod residents.

Gasataya also took the opportunity to commend city employees and uniformed personnel who remained on duty during the Holy Week.

He particularly cited those who helped ensure continued public service, including the distribution of rice supplies to 1,193 traditional and modernized jeepney drivers over the weekend.*
