
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez turned over the P12.4 billion 50 percent garbage fee share of eight Bacolod barangays to improve their garbage collection services on Thursday, February 16.
The recipients were Barangay 4 – P911,183, Barangay 26 – P285,712 , Barangay 40 – P3,098,490, Banago – P1,523,775, Montevista – P309,630, Taculing – P3,436,280, Barangay 33 – P737,750 and Alijis – P2,179,920.
The funds were released to strengthen the barangays’ solid waste management programs, including the purchase of additional garbage hauling trucks.
Benitez reminded the barangay captains to proactively engage with the garbage collection services of the city and sustain its efforts for cleanliness to prevent waste pollution.
The garbage fee is provided for under City Ordinance No. 479 that allocates a 50 share to each barangay from the proceeds of garbage services charges.*
