7 caught in Ilog for ‘illegal fishing’

Seven persons were caught for alleged illegal fishing in the territorial waters of Ilog, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, January 28.
Caught were Tony Cordero, 50, Ruphny Guanzon, 29, Kenneth Cordero, 18, Ronald Jadan, 36, Joan Ordania, 40, Junrez Gavillanes, 35, and Jonie Ordania, 48, of Brgy. Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, the police reported Sunday.

The Ilog Municipal Bantay Dagat Task Force volunteers intercepted three boats in the act of illegal fishing within the prohibited distance from the shoreline of Barangay II, Ilog, in violation of Section 3 of Municipal Ordinance No. 26 Series of 1993, the report added.

Recovered from their possession and control were three fishing nets, the police said.*
