A total of 63 farmers from barangays Canlusong and San Isidro in E. B. Magalona received indemnity assistance from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) at distribution rites at the town’s public plaza on Wednesday, December 7.
Municipal Planning and Development Office head Erwin Poniado, representing Mayor Marvin Malacon, OIC-Municipal Agriculturist Efren Garcia Jr., and Charlon Melendres, insurance underwriter of PCIC 3rd District, led the turnover of checks totaling P234,749 to the beneficiaries whose crops and livestock were damaged by pests, other diseases, and the recent typhoon, a press release from EB Magalona said.
The PCIC assistance was facilitated by the Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon, through the Municipal Agriculture Office.
Garcia had earlier said Malacon has sponsored the premium fee of E. B. Magalona farmers and fisherfolk who want to insure their crops, livestock, and fishing boats.*
