The number of active COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental are 288 and 76 in Bacolod City today (January 3) but the number may increase with the holiday moratoriums on the return of Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) in most cities and towns in the province having ended.
Today, January 3, there is only one new COVID-19 case in Negros Occidental and three in Bacolod City, the Department of Health reported.
A Provincial Incident Management Team report as of Saturday, January 2, showed that five towns in Negros Occidental – Candoni, Salvador Benedicto, EB Magalona, Ilog, and Pulupandan have no active COVID-19 cases.
San Carlos City had the most number of active cases in Negros Occidental as of Saturday at 26, followed by Isabela with 15, Silay City and Cauayan – 13, Victorias City and Hinigaran – 12, Valladolid and Escalante City -10, Talisay City and Kabankalan City – 9, Toboso and Calatrava – 8, Hinoba-an – 7;
San Enrique, Himamaylan City, Sagay City and Cadiz City – 6, Murcia, Pontevedra, La Carlota City and La Castellana – 5, Manapla – 4, Moises Padilla – 3, and Bago City, Sipalay City and Binalbagan – 1 each, the PIMT reported.
Meanwhile, there were 102 LSIs who arrived in Negros Occidental today, 92 of whom were on board a 2GO St. Therese of Child Jesus ship from Manila and 10 were on board the M/V Starlife Venus from Batangas, Zeaphard Caelian, head of the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division, said.*
