Lt. Gen Roy M. Galido, Philippine Army commanding general, gave awards to 3rd Infantry Division officials and troops for their campaign to end insurgency in Negros and Panay at Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, last week.
Maj. General Marion Sison, 3ID commander, received five major engagement and four bayanihan streamer awards for their accomplishments to dismantle guerilla fronts under the Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS).
BGen. Micheal Samson, 301st Infantry Brigade commander, also received a significant streamer award while the 302nd Infantry Brigade commander got two major engagement awards, and 303rd Brigade Commander BGen. Orlando Edralin received two bayanihan streamer awards.
Subordinate units under 3ID also received various awards including the 47th Infantry Battalion with two Major Engagement and a Bayanihan Streamer Awards; 79th Infantry Battalion with a Major Engagement and a Bayanihan Streamer Awards; and 11th Infantry Battalion and 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion with one Bayanihan Streamer Award each.
The 31st Division Reconnaissance Company and 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion also received one Significant Streamer Award each, while 7ISU, AIR, PA received the Kabatiran Award.
Galido praised Sison for the collective accomplishments of the 3ID in its peace, security and development efforts while underscoring his hope for more achievements to finally declare the Western and Central Visayas as “insurgency free.”
Meanwhile, the 3ID assured their commitment to serve the Visayas region after the high trust rating earned by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the latest survey conducted by the OCTA Research Group.
Results of the survey conducted from September 30 to October 4 and released on Dec. 4 showed that 85 percent of the respondents were satisfied with the country’s military.
Across regions, satisfaction with the AFP was highest among those in the Visayas (54 percent ‘very satisfied’ and 39 percent ‘somewhat satisfied’), followed by those in Mindanao (43 percent ‘very satisfied’ and 48 percent ‘somewhat satisfied’), balance Luzon (19 percent ‘very satisfied’ and 64 percent ‘somewhat satisfied’), and Metro Manila (six percent ‘very satisfied’ and 66 percent ‘somewhat satisfied’).
Sison commended the Spearhead Troopers for their exceptional effort, especially in fulfilling their mandate to serve and secure the people and the nation.*
