3 killed in shootings

Three people, including a man who just got out of jail, were killed in separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental in the past two days.

Killed on March 27 at San Isidro Street, Barangay San Pedro in Binalbagan was 20-year-old Allen Rivera, who was just released from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Binalbagan District Jail through plea bargaining.

Based on a police report, Rivera was walking in front of the Alternative Learning School (ALS) building with his brother Arman and mother Marlin when he was attacked by two unidentified persons, who alighted from a gray vehicle, from behind.

The suspects wore bonnets and their vehicle had no plate number.

The victim’s mother and brother were able to run for cover.

Rivera was brought to Binalbagan Infirmary Clinic but was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim’s father, Arnold Rivera, who was on his way home to Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, along with his wife, on March 19 was also gunned down by four unidentified suspects.

Police said that they are still verifying if the victim was a member of the Epogon robbery group as his middle name was Epogon.

Recovered from the crime scene were five fired cartridges and one fired slug of suspected .45 caliber pistol.

In Cadiz City, 57-year-old Gerallie Porre of Barangay Caduhaan was gunned down outside of his residence by four unidentified suspects on March 26.

The victim was brought to Cadiz City Emergency Clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the scene were two empty shells and one slug of an unknown firearm.
In Escalante City, 55-year-old Honesto Escobar, a native of Bulacan and a land caretaker, was found dead outside his home at Yolanda Homes in Barangay Old Poblacion on March 26.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on his cheek.

Recovered from the crime scene was one bolo owned by the victim.

According to the police, a neighbor heard two gunshots the night before but ignored it.

Police are still investigating the motive of the killings.*
