The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD 6) reported today, January 14, that 24 of its employees were tested positive for the coronavirus disease.
Of the 24 cases, eight are in the hospitals while the rest are in quarantine facilities.
DOH-CHD6 assured that its services will continue as it addresses the COVID-19 cases among its employees.
Tracing of contacts of the patients is still ongoing.
Dr. Jane Juanico, head of the infectious disease cluster of the DOH-CHD6, said the transmission was community-acquired but the signs and symptoms were manifested just this week.
Also, the transmission happened because a lot of their employees reported at the regional office in December to process important documents, she added.
Meanwhile, the DOH-CHD6 is targeting to cover 770,279 children zero to 59 months old for measles, rubella, and oral polio vaccine supplemental immunization this February.
The regional health office said the scheduled immunization will proceed amid the threat of COVID-19.*with reports from PNA
