2025 Silay election day shooting suspect arrested

One of the suspects in the 2025 election day shooting in Silay City, Negros Occidental, which left two persons dead and seven others injured has been arrested, police confirmed.

Police identified the arrested suspect as alias “Jose,” 32, a resident of La Castellana.

He was arrested in Silay City on April 29 through a manhunt operation conducted by the tracker team of the Silay City Police Station.

Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, confirmed on Friday, May 1, that the arrested person was one of the suspects in the shooting incident in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, during the May 12, 2025 local elections.

The incident left two persons dead and seven others injured.

Catalogo said two suspects were charged in connection with the shooting, with one now arrested while the other remains at large.

The arrested suspect is facing six counts of frustrated murder and two counts of attempted murder, with total bail recommended at P1.44 million.

The warrants of arrest were issued on April 16 by a Regional Trial Court in Silay City.

Catalogo said the arrest is part of the continuing efforts of the Silay police to track persons with warrants of arrest.

He added that police are continuing their monitoring and tracking efforts for the possible arrest of the remaining suspect.

The arrested suspect is now under police custody and was brought to court for proper disposition.*
