
Two motorcycle riders died after their motorcycle collided with a carabao along a road in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Sunday morning, Aug. 23.
The Silay City Component Police Station identified the driver only as alias “Edrian,” 19, a resident of Hacienda Violeta, Brgy. Kapitan Ramon.
His back rider was identified as alias “Janjan,” of legal age and a resident of Sitio Sibato, Brgy. Guimbalaon.
Police said the two were aboard a Yamaha Sniper traveling from the direction of the Bacolod-Silay Airport toward Brgy. Guimbalaon proper when the motorcycle hit a carabao along J. Pitong Street in Hacienda Santo Rosario.
The impact caused both occupants to fall onto the cemented road and sustain injuries to different parts of their bodies.
Edrian was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Janjan initially survived but later died while being treated at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the carabao was owned by a resident identified only as alias “Noli” of Hacienda Gina, Brgy. Guimbalaon.
The remains of the two victims were brought to a funeral home in Silay City.
Police are continuing their investigation on the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the presence of the carabao on the roadway.
