Two most wanted rape suspects were arrested in separate police operations in Negros Oriental on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
In Mabinay, police arrested a man ranked as the No.1 most wanted at the municipal level, No. 9 at the provincial level, and No. 1 at the regional level for statutory rape.
The suspect was nabbed in Brgy. Poblacion by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 75 in Bais City.
The warrant covers three criminal cases for statutory rape, with no bail recommended.
He was brought to the BJMP in Mabinay for detention and proper disposition.
On the same day in Sta. Catalina, police also caught another suspect ranked as the No. 2 most wanted at the regional level, No. 1 at the provincial level, and No. 1 at the municipal level for rape.
The operation was conducted in Barangay Poblacion by personnel of the Sta. Catalina Police, Regional Intelligence Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 5th Mobile Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 63 judge in Bayawan City in 2010, also with no bail recommended.
Authorities said both suspects were informed of their rights during the operations, which form part of the intensified campaign of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office against most wanted persons.*
