Two Bacolod residents were sentenced to life imprisonment for the sale of shabu to law enforcers.
Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, Regional Trial Court Branch 52, sentenced Harold Canlas Modesto and Sebastian Beato Lo to life imprisonment and to pay fines of P500,000 each for the sale of shabu, in two separate decisions promulgated Friday, September 16.
Modesto, a tricycle driver, was charged for the sale of .857 gram shabu to a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent at Villa Homes, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, on Nov. 17, 2020.
On his arrest 73.869 grams of shabu were seized from his possession.
The judge sentenced Modesto to another life imprisonment for possession of shabu and to pay a fine of P1 million.
Lo, alias Bechokoy, was arrested for selling .107 gram of shabu to a police poseur buyer at Purok Chereza I, Barangay 27, Bacolod, on February 6, 2020.
On his arrest .258 gram of shabu was recovered from his possession.
The judge also sentenced Lo to suffer an indeterminate prison term of 12 years and 8 months as minimum to 17 years and 8 months as maximum and to pay a fine of P300,000 for possession of drugs.
The judge ordered the turnover of the confiscated drugs to the PDEA Regional Office 6 for destruction and the immediate transfer of Modesto and Lo to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.*
