Business establishment owners in Bacolod City are being urged to follow minimum health protocols against coronavirus to curb the spread of the disease.

City Administrator Em Ang, also the executive director of the Emergency Operations Center, reiterated that resorts, tourism establishments, amusement parks are still prohibited to operate under the General Community Quarantine status, as well as cockfighting and drinking liquor in public.

On Thursday, November 12, 16 commercial establishments, and a resort were temporarily shut down following violations of the minimum health protocols against COVID-19.

PMaj. Sherlock Gabana, head of the EOC contact tracing team, said under Executive Order No. 70 of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, consumption of alcohol in public is prohibited, and that establishments will only be allowed to sell liquor from noon to 6 p.m.

Establishments that were serving alcoholic beverages were closed for 24 hours, and they will be held liable should they violate the order again.

For Ang, the residents need to cooperate and help each other because the “frontliners are risking their lives.”

She said if residents continue to violate the minimum health protocols, “all the sacrifices of those in the frontlines will be for nothing” if the cases will surge again.

She that the purpose of the strict health protocols is to slowly open up the economy, “but we have to be at the side of caution all the time.”

She said “it is detrimental to all sectors in the society” if the city will revert to a higher quarantine status.*
