A total of 135 individuals underwent drug testing in two jail facilities in Negros Occidental and Siquijor as part of continuing efforts to keep detention centers drug-free.
Fifty-six male and five female Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel from the Negros Occidental District Jail–Male Dormitory in Bago City were tested during a joint search and seizure operation on Nov. 28.
All 61 personnel tested negative for illegal drug use.
The operation, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Negros Island Region Seaport and Airport Interdiction Unit and Regional Special Enforcement Team also did not yield any illegal drugs or contraband inside the facility.
In a separate operation earlier that morning, authorities conducted a search and seizure operation at the BJMP Siquijor District Jail in Barangay Caipilan, Siquijor.
A total of 85 individuals were subjected to drug testing, consisting of 32 BJMP personnel and 53 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
All tested negative, and no illegal drugs were recovered during the inspection.
Authorities said the operations support BJMP’s “Oplan Linis Piitan,” which aims to ensure safe, drug-free, and well-secured jail facilities across the region.*
